From the supplier: ConvaTec, a medical and cleaning chemical supplier in Greensboro, NC, has been designed a purchase order system to help solve its difficulties in ordering shipping cartons. Economic order quantities were determined based on quantity price breaks used for every carton type. After calculating the total cost breakpoints per adjacent pair of price ranges, the probabilistic assessment procedure was conducted based on total costs and costs per useable unit.

The effect of less-than-truckload rates on the purchase order lot size decision.: An article from: Transportation Journal

by Joseph R. CarterAmerican Society of Transportation and Logistics, Inc.

This digital document is an article from Transportation Journal, published by American Society of Transportation and Logistics, Inc. on March 22, 1995. The length of the article is 5845 words. The page length shown above is based on a typical 300-word page. The article is delivered in HTML format and is available in your Amazon.com Digital Locker immediately after purchase. From the supplier: The concept of anomalous weight breaks in less-than-truckload (LTL) pricing in relation to supply chain management was studied. The anomaly in weight breaks results from residual regulation in the otherwise deregulated transportation industry. Interstate truckers are prohibited from charging higher rates on small weights than on larger weights. A weight break is considered anomalous when it is used in two succeeding weight groups. Weight break anomalies are important factors in LTL pricing because LTL loads can be transported at truckload rates.

From the supplier: Suppliers and purchasers of any material or equipment should detail specifications on purchase orders to meet purchase requirements and avoid unnecessary costs. The supplier should anticipate the customer's requirements by asking a lot of essential questions regarding the order. The purchaser must be as specific as possible when listing requirements on the purchase order sheet, such as quantity, grade, acceptable range of color-deviation, moisture content, parts, service and rapid availability of technical support.
